Montclair Boy Scout Troop 13 recently celebrated the progress of several scouts at a spring Court of Honor.

Christian Uva and Lucas Young both moved up to the First Class rank. Logan Bateman, Daniel Friedman, Jonah Gelsi, Benjamin Linietsky and Nicholas Maurizi advanced to the Tenderfoot rank.

In addition, seven merit badges were awarded in areas including electronics, woodworking and citizenship. Merit badges are awarded to Scouts who complete requirements in a given area of study.Scouts can choose to work on merit badges in more than 100 subject areas.

Senior Patrol Leaders Vinnie Pagnota and Ciaran Cronogue and Scoutmaster Nick DeToustain handed out the awards. In addition, at the troop’s winter Court of Honor, 17 boys advanced in rank. John Colbert and Connor Snow advanced to Life Scout. Aidan Brown, Robert Buza, Chaz Ehlis, Ben Horrigan, Justin Kingsnorth and Sam Zichelli advanced to First Class. Robeson Amory and August Carson advanced to Second Class. Daniel Friedman, Justin Kloiber, Benjamin Linietsky, Nicholas Maurizi, Matthew Schnur, and Josh Stout advanced to Scout.
Troop 13 has more than 50 scouts, including several who are working toward achieving the Eagle rank. The troop was founded in 1911 and has been operating continuously since then.

More good news of scouts: Pack 12, which has 82 scouts, recently devoted its monthly meeting to food collection for Toni’s Kitchen and Reach Out Montclair, according to cubmaster Michael L. Bateman.
