Frank Joseph “Duke” Covello Sr., 69, of West Orange, formerly of Verona and Montclair, died on Wednesday, June 7. Visitation will be on Friday, June 9, from 3 to 8 p.m. at Caggiano Memorial, 62 Grove St., Montclair. A funeral Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, June 10, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Lake Church, Verona.

Mr. Covello graduated from Montclair High School and Central Missouri State University, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in criminal justice and was a brother of TKE fraternity.

Mr. Covello was the director of security for Kings Supermarkets from 1976 to 1990, and for General Trading from 1993 to 2017. He was a councilman in Verona from 1980 to 1983. He was a mainstay of Camp Wyanokie Memorial Day Weekend.

He is survived by his wife, Annette “Bunny” (née DeFalco), his son Steven and his daughter-in-law, Gina Bruzzichesi; his grandchildren, Maci Carmen, Olivia Grace, Gianna Faith, Emersyn Lily-Violet,  and Serafina Thea-Marie; his sister, Lynn Kaye and her husband, JK; and his brothers, Mark and his wife, Susan; and Sebastian and his wife, Meg.

He was predeceased by his son Frank Jr. in 2016, and by his parents, Carmen and Angela (née Giammella) Covello.
