Not to alarm anyone, but the Prudential Building in Newark, on the government’s list of financial institutions being targeted by Al Quada, is only 4.3 miles away from Bloomfield Center.
The good news is that according to How Stuff Works if a dirty bomb explodes nearby (but not on top of you), you can pretty much just lather it off.
If people got rid of contaminated clothes, showered and evacuated the area within a day or so of a small or medium blast, they would probably be fine. The bomb would boost radiation levels above the normal, “safe” level, but not by a lot.
Of course, we’re not quite sure what they mean by evacuating the area. Do they mean we have to move? And what in heaven would that do to real estate prices?
