Normally, Barista would be brimming with listings of real estate open houses for the weekend, but it turns out that the Garden State Multiple Listing Service switched to a new computer program this week, “bringing business to a screeching halt for more than 14,000 agents,” according to local real estate maven Roberta Baldwin. The result: nobody could add any listings to the service for the past week.
Of course it is the dead of summer, so there weren’t too many new houses on the market anyway. Maybe the snafu will allow some of our hardworking real estate agent friends to spend a few hours at the pool.
UPDATE: Problems with the multiple listing service didn’t stop our Chief Executive Barista from finding open houses the old-fashioned way, calling realtors one by one. Check out our At Home page if you’re in the market, or just like snooping around.
