Every newsroom in the state, including the Barista’s, is waiting to hear Gov. Jim McGreevey announce his resignation. A news conference, scheduled for 4 pm, hasn’t taken place yet. Next in line to become governor is Richard Codey, of West Orange, president of the state senate. However, according to PoliticsNJ.com, if McGreevey resigns before September 15, a special election could be held in November to pick a new governor.
Rumors have been swirling around the web that his resignation has to do with sexual harrassment charges by former NJ homeland security chief Golan Cipel.
