1. U can tell you once wrote for the Times — u have that pretentious air of self-important pedantry that oozes into your writing like a goofy smirk sliding across some buffoon’s face.
   Keep up the good work.

2. Actually I think the NY Times would certaily have found a Bush-Cheney-Wolfowitz connection with Dunkin Donuts (as in they may have at one time eaten a donut!) before running with the story.
   But (and here is the real shocker) I’ll have to defend the Barista on this one.
   I *think* she is being *ironic* in her *shock* which in the topsy-turvy way in which *satire* works indicates she *might* think the whole thing is a ‘tempest in a teapot’.
   As for “pretentious air of self-important pedantry…” well, isn’t that what blogging (and commenting on someone else’s blog) is all about?

4. Its nice to know the citizens are so interested in the welfare of their local police officers. Perhaps the officer had to attend to a “nature call” and did not want to use the facilities in headquarters. Because of all the current lawsuits, the atmosphere there is nauseating.
   The officer could have been speaking with a Bloomfield officer and obtaining information on local criminal activities. Remember, Ridgers, you don’t live in a vacuum.
   If you’ve ever worked a 12 hour shift in a car, you’d know that getting out of the car for a stretch keeps you more alert.
   In any case, give the officers a break and your vote of confidence.
