at the September 11 Memorial in Watchung Plaza on Saturday, September 11, beginning at 8:30am. and that previous generations fought for. Fire chief Robert McLaughlin ended the service with 4 sets of 5 taps on the fire bell, in honor of the Firemen lost. NYFD’s “Box 5-5-5-5” code is rung in every firehouse in the city when a fireman is lost, and was rung 343 times on 9/11.
