A man who raped a Montclair woman on Pine Street, near the railroad tracks, on Sat., Oct. 9, is still at large and being sought by police. In that attack, which has been overshadowed by the high school case, a 32-year-old woman, walking alone at 9:45 pm that night, was followed by a man who apparently stuck a gun into her back, then took her into nearby bushes, beat and sexually assaulted her.
The assailant is described as a medium-complexioned black male, 25 to 28 years old, 5’8″ to 6′ tall, weighing 190-200 lbs, and sporting a mustache and long sideburns. He was wearing military fatigues and dog tags at the time of the attack. Police have a composite sketch of the man and we will run it as soon as they send it over. Meanwhile, anyone with information should call the Montclair detective bureau at 973.744.1234.
Montclair police chief David Sabagh urges women to use “common sense” precautions, and not walk alone at night, while the attacker is still at large.

  1. Well, that’s unsettling. That’s about 250 feet from our house. Looking forward to seeing the sketch. Thanks.
