Temple Ner Tamid’s entire 7th grade had an unusual assignment when they got to Hebrew school today: figuring out how to comfort Montclair classmate Lucy Phillips, struck by a car on the way to school earlier today.
The children were told that Lucy’s hip was was fractured in the accident, and that she may be spending up to a month in the hospital. She turns 13 on Saturday. Her bat mitzvah is not until March.
The students made cards and decided to send her presents, and do favors like taping her favorite TV shows.
Montclair police did not return our call regarding the accident earlier today.
Montclair police told me that the accident was at Park and Wildwood.
