You saw it on Baristanet first: the fashion statement for 2005, which no high school kid can be without, a handknit iPod cover.
Ivy Kirk (left) turned New Year’s Eve into a sweatshop, enticing her mother, Julia Gorton, to help her knit the accessories, which will retail for $12.
Kirk’s plan is to sell enough iPod covers to pay for a trip to Iceland in June, when she graduates from Glen Ridge High School. Let’s see, that would be about … um… 300 iPod covers.
The pair, seen knitting on Friday night, were still knitting at a Glen Ridge regifting party on Sunday, and were well on the way to achieving young Kirk’s goal. With any luck, the delightful hand-knit items will not end up at next year’s regifting party. (Order here.)
