  1. And they who for their country die shall fill an honored grave, for glory lights the soldier’s tomb, and beauty weeps the brave.

  2. Who took Bloomfield’s Memorial parade photos? why is the mayor included in the shots?

  3. Although increasingly smaller every year, I look forward to the sight and sound of familiar faces growing up in Bloomfield.
My sincere thanks to the brave women and men who responded and still respond to the call to serve and sacrifice themselves for our great country; to their fmilies my sincerest gratitude.

  4. Umm…Maybe because he is Mayor…And a Veteran
Of course if there is a problem I’m sure the Barista would post the fantastic shots you took this morning. Send them on in.
Thanks to all Vets both here and gone. You’ve done the necessary hard work but never get the proper recognition. God Bless You All.

  5. Every year there’s a nice parade and every year one or more self-righteous blowhard types have to assert that there were less people than ever, but how they attended of course. (Is there an official tally so we can confirm less people than last year?) A very big point to make in Montclair, natch, because we all know how ungrateful all these liberal democrats are. Same thing every Memorial Day.

  7. Scott Surbeck consistently takes great pictures throughout the year. Today I was most impressed by Montclair Mem Day 3 jpg of the statute and honor guard. I have photographed the park for decades and never caught that angle in such an impactful way. Very impressive.

  8. What a wonderful day. The Glen Ridge parade, service and picnic is so nice. With as many (or more) people marching in the parade as there are spectators — because the town is so small — it always feels like a wonderful community and makes me feel warm and fuzzy about living here.

  9. Actually I was referring to the diminishing parade itself not the attendees–when I was growing up there were more bands, floats, more vetrans…all and all it was still a tribute in Bloomfield and a beautiful one at that-although I miss seeing my grandmother making the march…

  10. Totally! I would never let my kids anywhere near him. He may be the nicest guy, but you never know.

  11. From what I understand he does a lot of charitable kind of things like visiting kids in hospitals or whatnot. Maybe if he just got a new outfit, a little less, shall we say, revealing, it might improve people’s perceptions of him!

  12. Great Pictures – thanks for the video clips, especially of the twirlers!
Rum Tug Tugger rules! He’s a great person, with a huge heart – I don’t care about the size of his other organs, however visible they may be…
