Reports of animals emerging from the primordial depths of the Jersey Shore (and with us still suffering from Microburst 2006), it seems nature is pretty annoyed these days.
“>”It was the biggest thing I ever saw come out of the ocean,” said rescuer, Bob Beckett in regards to one of the two (count√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢em, two, they√¢‚Ǩ‚Ñ¢re hard to miss) whales breaching our boundaries.” A little less obvious were the scores of hooded seals washing up and down the east coast. One of whom was suffering from sunburn. So pack that new fancy SPF 400 stuff from France if you have any seals in your family tree.

The center is also caring for a hooded seal, which became stranded with severe sunburn on Long Beach Island last weekend. In fact, other hooded seals have been appearing on beaches up and down the east coast, but experts said they belong in much colder waters.
“They’re Arctic by nature and shouldn’t be down here, but we have no clue why they are,” Schoelkopf said.

  1. “primordial depths of the Jersey Shore”
    “Off” the Jersey shore perhaps.
    “The center”
    Center? What center?
    Link doesn’t work either.

  2. “One who whom was suffering from sunburn.”

  3. Was down “da shore” yesterday and the water was FREEZING! Felt more like the ocean in June than late July. What gives? Normally, I plunge right in but this was painful. I could only go up to my knees. Plus, it was very rough.
Whales, seals don’t bother me…better than shark sightings.

  5. MM – I am dogsitting for a galoop of a labby and an Aussie She mix. The lab has crashed through the gate in the kitchen to greet me every time so far. Surprise, surprise.
    Thought you’d appreciate.

  6. The Aussie Mix is a doll. She was rescued from Mt. Pleasant. She’s a barker, but what a scratch mooch!
Poor labbie has a cone collar on for a hot spot. Actually, he uses it well to balance chewies. Those labs – always so resourceful!

  7. LOL…lots of Labs get those “hot spots,” especially in the summer. My bro told me that labs are especially prone to skin allergies so that may have something to do with it.

  8. He seems fine…his tail creating a wake like a speedboat. I usually really like the dogs I walk, but I’ve fallen in love with these two. They are wonderful.
However, I return home after visiting them with their scents all over me – the canine equivalent of lipstick on the collar to our little Shiba mix. She sniffs me up and down with vigor as in saying, “Where have you BEEN?!”

  9. Recently visited NC shore – saw an unbelievable “surfacing” of something in the ocean, digital photos suggested a whale, until a local told us that a pipeline expels waste into the ocean at that same time every day – later visits to the beach proved that point. YUCK.

  10. “…a local told us that a pipeline expels waste into the ocean at that same time every day.”
    Yuck! That’s legal?
