Wait a minute, don’t all shout out at once. We’re talking pound losers. No, it’s not a casting call for the TV reality show; Montclair Y, the social hot-spot where everyone knows your name, has signs all over the club announcing a competition in 2008 for big losers.
If your holiday feasting has been over-indulgent, are feeling things a bit tight around the middle, or plan to make “lean and mean” your New Year’s Resolution, then get thee to the Y. They say weight loss works better using the buddy system. Form your team, prepare to lose, beginning this February. And that’s all they’re saying…for now.

  1. I’ve seen a couple of candidates, but man, these folks are pretty fit for seemingly overweight people.
I think it’s a good idea to promote healthy living and necessary weight loss. Obesity can and does kill with alarming regularity.
Get on an eliptical. I guarantee you’ll sweat your ass off, burn tons of calories, feel fantastic and become completely addicted to it within a few visits.
I have a totally screwed up knee(ACL/Ligament surgery 30 years ago) and thought I wouldn’t be able to do this kind of training but it turns out it actually keeps my bum knee feeling relatively pain free.

  2. I have no interest in going into any such contest, but I’ve gone from 253 to 198.
It’s damn embarrasing. Everywhere you go, anyone that you’ve ever seen or met, (even if it was 8 months ago) has a comment or 2 or 3 or 4 about it.

  3. Does losing weight mean giving up cocktails?!?!?
I just, might, could lose a few pounds chuckling @ my friends around here!!! Maybe only one or two…LOL!!

ITA. Even if you’re not overweight, an elliptical is a great way to stay in shape, especially during inclement weather. Also, an elliptical, unlike the treadmill, won’t aggravate many pre-existing injuries.
