The Virginia-based company’s website purports to serve visionary fresh food that’s “good for you and the environment.” What that means: organic, grass-fed, free range beef and olive oil cooked fries.   1. I look forward to trying it though. It’s hard to get a good burger these days.
    One thing though. I would predict fries cooked in olive oil will be greasy. Olive oil does not get hot enough to fry potatoes properly.

  2. Is the grass treated with pesticides? Does the manure from the farm wash into rivers, causing dead zones in the ocean? Is the meat shipped by carbon-belching refrigerator trucks?
    Sorry, no green for you!

  3. I had a fantastic burger at Church Street Kitchen one afternoon and then about a month later ordered the same thing and it was completely disgusting. I feel bad for the owner because she tries so hard but she really needs to find a good chef whose quality is consistent.
    Raymond’s is overhyped, though they have fantastic french toast. Everything else I’ve had there has been pretty mediocre.
    I’ll be happy of EB’s burgers are good.
    Maybe some of those crappy antique stores can finally go out of business and we can get some better restaurants on Church Street.

  4. fries cooked in olive oil are delicious, and not greasy at all, but have a really fresh taste.
    They are more expensive to do, as the oil should be changed often.
    Always happy to try a new burger bar, however it is not healthy food! maybe of a higher quality (organic, olive oil…), but certainly not healthy.

    Perhaps a burger is not as healthy as say, Toad in the Hole….

  6. Fries in olive oil are the way they do it in Spain. DH, who spent his summers with his dad who lived there, makes them that way at home all the time. Delicious.

  8. The Buddy Burger is, by far, the best burger. Bryant Park Grill (behind the library) serves up a surprisingly awesome burger.

At least one-half pound of 80%-lean ground beef from Mastriano’s in Bloomfield (they supply Holsten’s); grilled medium-rare (137F); served on a toasted sesame bun or ciobatta roll, with a slab of white cheddah cheez, a hefty slice of Bermuda onion, a small leaf of lettuce, and no tomato whose name does not begin with “heirloom.” On the side of the plate, a small portion of Belgian Fries — Yukon gold potatoes julienned to 1/8th inch and fried twice in raging beef tallow: once for 90 seconds at 350 degrees to cook, rest, and once again at 380 degrees until brown and crispy. Drain well. Say “olive oil” three times over the plate to make it healthful. Wash it all down with your favorite beer — mine happens to be Steel Rail Ale, from the Berkshire Brewery in Western Massatwoshits.
    And I think I am going to go downstairs and make one now!!!

  10. Oh, God, I can vouch for the burgers at Conan’s. Had them last year the Friday after Thanksgiving watching football. Can’t remember the game but will never forget the burger. Probably washed it down with a Pacifico lager.

  11. Arkansas defeated soon-to-be National Champions LSU 40-48 in three overtimes, long after the burgers were gone! And the beer was Pacifico — we hadn’t discovered Berkshire Brewery yet. But thanks for the compliment, Ice! The cook appreciates it.

  12. Berkshire brewery? Used to pick up jugs of porter from there way back when they wouldn’t sell beer on sunday anywhere else. I forget the name of that lady with the wacky house in housatonic who made real texas bbq every weekend at the brewery, her open pit outside there in the yard next to the jennifer house, but it was the best I ever had this side of the mississippi. Boy I could sure go for one of those porters right about now!

  14. (Wrong score — it was 50-48 for anyone still tuning in to this thread). Never tried the BBQ, complainerpuss, but we will try to visit the brewery next summer; we had the beer at a little joint that hangs over the Deerfield River in Shelburne Falls. Good beah.

  15. I hope this happens! I will be thrilled to be able to go to a burger joint in town and get myself a nice veggie burger with cheese and caramalized onions. Mmmmm!!
    Anyone who would even think to consider a burger joint healthy is obviously off their rocker. IT’S A BURGER JOINT.
