Food banks around the state are in need of food. Locally, The London Food Company is organizing their first food drive for United Way in Bloomfield. The drive, starting this Saturday, October 18 through Friday, October 24, will benefit disadvantaged adults, kids, and seniors in the community. Bring donations of canned food, pasta or jars of food to the store at 416 Bloomfield Ave.
Teens working to accumulate community service hours are invited by Yomi Karade to collect food from their neighborhood and deliver it to the store. Karade is also looking for volunteers to hand out flyers outside the store on Saturday or during the week. For more information about donating or volunteering, call 973-783-6688.

  1. Please also remember that the Human Needs Food Pantry at 9 Label St. in Montclair is also in need of donations of food and money. The food pantry buys fresh fruits and vegetables from a wholesaler, as well as fresh meat, in addition to the non-perishables it purchases from the Community Food Bank. Food prices have gone way up–food drives help, as do dollars!
