The last Saturday of every month, the Underground Flea Market in Bloomfield Center is holding auctions. Yes, the old fashioned type, with an auctioneer talking really, really fast, and another guy shuttling the stuff up and down the crowded aisles of the backroom as one piece is sold and another one presented. I attended last month’s auction, where I hoped to bid on the big box of lovely, delicate lace handkerchiefs and vintage silverplated platters. Unfortunately, I had to get to another photo shoot and couldn’t wait for my box to come up, but I will try again this weekend.
I was also hoping to bid on some ghastly psychedelic hippie art from the mid-60’s, but alas, I couldn’t wait for that, either. It’s too bad, because really solid pieces of furniture and matched sets of lamps were going for rock bottom prices. For everything from furniture to kitchen supplies to artwork to vases to mixed boxes of bone china tea cups and picture frames, this is the place.

really? i’m surprised, as of around noon today, i was informed it was on.
so sorry to hear that. i’ll keep you posted if i hear anything else.
Does anyone know if this event took place? If not, was it postponed to a later date? It sounds like they might have some neat stuff.
