Following a three-year investigation, including an undercover operation, Belleville resident, Max Antoine, was arrested for allegedly deceiving several clients and illegally practicing immigration law.
Antoine, 39, who has been providing legal services from his Bloomfield office, located at 114 Broughton Avenue, was arrested Wednesday afternoon by detectives from the Bloomfield Police Department and the Essex County Prosecutor’s Economic Crimes Unit. He has been charged with theft by deception, unauthorized practice of law, and conspiracy to traffic false government documents. Bail was set at $75,000. If convicted of all the charges, Antoine could face up to 15 years in prison.
