ugly betty auction storefront.jpgThe TV show “Ugly Betty” had its final episode this spring. But if you loved the show, or Betty’s eye-popping mid-century furnishings, you can take a bit home to your own living room without going any further than Bloomfield Ave. Nye & Company, the boutique auction house located in downtown Montclair, is auctioning off 950 set and prop items from the ABC series this week. The catalogue reads like a restaurant menu, with egg chairs, cone chairs and lollipop lamps.
Doors open at 8 a.m. Thursday through Saturday and the actual auction begins each day at 10 a.m. Nye & Company is located at 425 Bloomfield Avenue. The catalogue is on Nye & Company’s website.
But does the idea of a Sotheby’s-style auction scare you? Auctioneer John Nye says it shouldn’t. Watch the video to see why, and take a peek at some of the “Ugly Betty” auction items.
