The Jersey Animal Coalition (JAC) promises an exciting summer evening of great food and music in support of the shelter at Above Restaurant & Bar in South Orange on Monday, August 23, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
In its second year, The Dog (And Cat!) Days of Summer will help support JAC’s mission of rescuing and finding homes for stray and abandoned pets.
The event will feature a multi-course buffet prepared by Above Restaurant’s new chef, Fred Mero, as well as dancing under the stars on the restaurant’s outdoor rooftop terrace. Participants will be able to bid on gifts and one-of-a-kind experiences via a silent auction. All funds raised will go directly to JAC and provide means to provide care for the shelter’s animals until loving and permanent homes can be found. Some of the auction items include a sail up the Hudson River, a golf outing for 4 at the Maplewood Country Club, and a dog training session.
Now in its 21st year, the Jersey Animal Coalition is a totally self-supporting, non-profit organization — and one of the few no-kill shelters in the state of New Jersey. It is an all-volunteer organization that has rescued and placed more than 10,000 stray and abandoned pets since it was founded. In addition to providing shelter, adoption services and medical care for abandoned pets, the Jersey Animal Coalition has a spay and neuter clinic, reunites owners with lost pets, and educates the public about responsible pet ownership. The shelter relies solely on donations, adoption fees, and fundraising to continue its work.
Tickets are $65 per adult; $40 for children under 12. To purchase tickets, please visit jaconline.org.
