On Friday, May 20, Slow Food Northern NJ will hold a tasting of American wines and artisan cheeses at the Van Vleck House & Gardens in Montclair, where the wisteria is in full bloom. Slow Food Northern NJ’s mission is to connect earth friendly farmers, food producers, and chefs with New Jersey palates by encouraging folks to slow down and enjoy healthy, locally grown food — putting the public into a “Garden State of Mind”. The event is a benefit for the organization’s school garden program.
In addition to Slow Food’s resident wine expert, Gary Tonucci, Steve Lieder, wine educator from Chelsea Wine Vault in NYC; and Daniel Epstein, cheese monger from Eden Gourmet in South Orange will be leading the event, and teaching about wine and cheese pairing. Please note that minimum age for this event is 21.

Oh dear. Do I have wine and cheese under the wisteria or sing along to “The Sound of Music” next to the irises? Such tough decisions this week.
jerseygurl, you will need to decide which is more authentically local.
What is it about this particular Friday? I am stick in the mud, but there are three things I want to do around town on Friday. This is one. The Sound of Muzak at the Iris Gardens is the other. And there’s tap dancing at Trumpets. Tap dancing!
