Has anyone ever written a tune just for you? Well, here’s your chance to be immortalized in song, and help a worthwhile charity at the same time.
Montclair-based Zak Smith Band is auctioning off a song on Ebay to raise funds for the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life. The Americana band was chosen by the music blog Wildy’s World to personally write and record a song for the winning bidder. See a video of Smith after the jump.
“The winner will fill out a short survey to give Zak ideas on what to write about for you,” said a band representative. Smith will then take the information and interpret it into a song. The winner will receive a demo recording via email within eight weeks.

Smith grew up in Montclair. His website describes his signature style as alternative rock with Americana, forged by his listening to rock, blues, alternative, folk, and Irish music. His music has been described by critics as “haunting indie rock with Americana accents” (Berkeley Place), as “rocks with oodles of soul” (Muzik Reviews), and as “someone opening up their life to you” (Jersey Beat).
