Dr. Clarence C. Hoover, Montclair’s Interim Superintendent, sent the following letter, discussing the replacement of Principal Guy Whitlock, out to Mount Hebron staff, parents, guardians and caregivers on Friday:
Dear Mt. Hebron Staff and Parents/Guardians/Caregivers:
As you may be aware, the search for a new principal at Mt. Hebron Middle School has not yet produced a candidate that the Board and I feel demonstrate the proper skill set for this critical juncture in the school’s reorganization. I officially begin my duties on July 1 and intend to make this my top priority. Although my official start date is not until next week, I have already committed additional district resources and personnel to the successful opening of Mount Hebron in September.
I fully anticipate that I will be able to communicate a solution to the school’s administrative needs by the week of July 9th. I want to re-assure you that this does not mean we are waiting to address the curriculum and program needs. Those needs are well on their way to completion using our current staff and resources.
The district’s continued goal is to be ready in September for a smooth and successful school opening.
Your patience in this matter is much appreciated.
Sincerely,
Clarence C. Hoover
Interim Superintendent
