The PTA at Montclair’s Northeast Elementary School invites incoming kindergarteners and new students over for their annual get-to-know-you visits. The playdates and ice cream social offer kids and caregiver the chance to meet before the school year starts.
Come to the playground:
- Thursday, August 2 from 4 to 5:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, August 8 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.
- Tuesday, August 14 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.
In addition, everyone is invited to the Ice Cream Social to tour the school and meet the principal and teachers on Wednesday, August 29 from 6 to 7 p.m. Teacher assignment letters will arrive during the last week of August.
As you know, the first day of school is Thursday, September 6, and doors open at 8:10 a.m. After drop off, the PTA hosts a Welcome Back Coffee for parents on the front lawn. This is a great time to volunteer for school activities. At Northeast, the volunteer spots fill up fast.
Why in the world are they doing it so early while there is still a lot of reassigning and appealing going on?
