Symphony Space in NYC is a wonderful venue to see a family show. It’s where we took our oldest daughter to her first concert, which was Dan Zanes & Friends. We’ve been fans of both DZ and Symphony Space ever since.
Symphony Space’s “Just Kidding” series offers interactive music, theater and dance experiences for every family with children ages 2 to 7. The season debuts on Saturday, October 6 with a performance by NYC kid-pop star Suzi Shelton and her full band. Every Saturday after that, through May, Symphony Space will continue its tradition of offering New York area families ground-breaking programming from around the country. This year, it will host dozens of family-centric performances, including the return of family favorites Elizabeth Mitchell, Gustafer Yellowgold and Justin Roberts, as well as awesome kindie bands such as The Deedle Deedle Dees, Lucky Diaz an The Family Jam Band, Moona Luna, Aaron Nigel Smith and many more.
There will be wonderful dance performances, puppet shows, as well as the return of the Thalia Kids’ Book Club, which offers lively discussions between children’s book authors and their fans. First up in that series will be Annie Barrows, The New York Times bestselling author and illustrator of the notable Ivy and Bean books. We love the series in The Gilmore house.
Symphony Space is located at 2537 Broadway at 95th Street in Manhattan, NYC. Ticket prices range from $11 to $25. Symphony Space offers “create your own” subscriptions to the 2012-13 Just Kidding series. Members of Symphony Space enjoy up to 40 percent in discounts on ticket prices.
