Russ Moserowitz of the Bloomfield Parking Authority kicks off the festivities as Bill Colgan of Bloomfield Center Urban Renewal, LLC and Mayor Ray McCarthy look on.

Groundbreaking ceremonies were held at 4 p.m. Monday, October 15 to officially begin the building of the parking deck that is an integral part of the long-awaited Bloomfield Center redevelopment.

Although there is still a lawsuit that must be settled before the entire project can be completed, developer Bill Colgan of Bloomfield Center Urban Renewal, LLC, said that if all goes according to plan, the deck will be completed by the end of this year.

Essex County Executive Joe DiVincenzo, Bloomfield Mayor Ray McCarthy, Bloomfield Council representatives, members of the Bloomfield Parking Authority and the Bloomfield Center Alliance were among those participating in the ceremony.
