A woman stabbed two people in the kitchen of a Normal Avenue home with a folding knife late Wednesday night in Upper Montclair. From Montclair Police Dlt Angel Roman:

STABBING
On 01/2/2012, Officers responded to a Normal Avenue address on report of a stabbing that occurred at a neighboring residence on Normal Avenue. Upon arrival of Officers on scene, two people were observed lying in the street. Both were covered with blood and one of the two, a male victim, was screaming, “She stabbed me”. The second victim, who was a female, was lying near the male, and said nothing. Both were discovered to have been stabbed or cut by a third party. The male victim pointed to the home in front of which they were lying and again stated that a female inside the house was responsible for stabbing both parties.

Dawn Lockwood-Briant
A contingency contingent of officers approached the house and could see inside the open door where one female party was sitting on a sofa drinking a beer. They entered the home and took the woman into custody. She was found to be in possession of a folding knife, which was taken as evidence. It was then confirmed by the victims that this party was the one responsible for the knife assault. She was identified as Dawn Lockwood Briant, 44, of Pennsville, NJ.

As per the victims, the three arrived at the home earlier in the day and were enjoying a visit when an argument ensued between the two females. At a point, Lockwood-Briant reportedly was alone in the kitchen with the female victim when the male heard a scream. He went into the kitchen to see what was going on, when he observed Lockwood-Briant standing over the female victim, who was lying on the floor. Lockwood Briant was said to be swinging her arm in a stabbing motion over the female victim. The male victim attempted to intervene and was slashed across his right hand. He then ran to a neighboring house to have them call 911.

Both parties were taken to St. Joseph’s Medical Center for treatment. Lockwood-Briant was placed under arrest and charged with two counts of Aggravated Assault, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon and Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purposes. She is being held in the Essex County Jail on $50,000 bail.

Tipsters told us that there was police activity in the vicinity of Normal Avenue and Upper Mountain Avenue late Wednesday night, associated with a stabbing. Montclair Police Department confirmed the stabbings in Upper Montclair on Thursday afternoon, telling Baristanet, “We are investigating right now. No one was killed, thankfully. We will release more information on Friday.”

According to the Montclair Times, Lockwood-Briant and the female victim, a 1985 graduate of Montclair High School, met while working at a carnival.

Trivial point, but “contingency” should be “contingent”.

  2. I would have expected a story like this to happen in the 42 but not 43. Oxy is too classy for these carnies, though.

Why? Did you read the news last week about the arrest in NYC of a prominent physician’s daughter (9 months pregnant) and her lowlife boyfriend, son of a well-known architect, who were busted for weapons and heroin? Drug addiction can affect anyone, in any zip code.

  4. T’was a time, not so long ago, when the astoundingly foolish Diana Vreeland would have applauded the hollow-cheeked “glow” of the accused’s skin above. And no one else also thinks of Kate Moss and similar waifs posing as models? Or of, say, Charlotte Rampling? (And at most any stage of her long career.)

Other than that, this is the usual sad story, possibly about the effects of the drug culture upon us. But no one else wonders about the motivation behind the Baristas’ actually running the photo of Ms. Lockwood-Briant? If you haven’t, don’t ever complain on this site about either Fox News or the NY Post.
