Tomorrow night, Donnie Farraro and his A Touch of Sinatra show will perform in the auditorium at the Montclair Public Library, brining the vocals of New Jersey’s most famous singer to life.
Narrated by Joe Gilligan, the show features vocals by Farraro, a Sinatra sound- and look-alike (well, at least in the singer’s later years), who overcome a throat cancer diagnosis to sing the songs of his idol. In addition to some of Sinatra’s best known songs, the show includes comic stories, jokes and anecdotes from Ol’ Blue Eyes’ life, including many not commonly-known facts.
The show is performed about 100 times a year in the metropolitan area at public venues, private parties, fundraisers and corporate gatherings. According to the show’s website, they cover Sinatra’s life, from his birth in 1915 in Hoboken to his death in 1998 in California.
Sinatra, also known as The Chairman of the Board, left a legacy as a big band singer in the 1940s and ’50s; one of the best selling artists of all time; multiple Oscar winner for best film song; a film star, winning an acting Oscar for From Here to Eternity; a headliner at major concert halls; and philanthropist.
