No Sand in the HouseJennifer Crawford grew up in Verona,  but spent as much time as she could each spring and summer being a self-proclaimed beach bum on Long Beach Island, New Jersey. The mom of two has written a children’s book titled No Sand in the House!, about her  love of  the Jersey Shore, which she’ll share on Wednesday, July 10 at Verona Public Library in a special storytime and craft hour.

No Sand in the House!, illustrated by Hannah Touhy, is a heart-warming tale of a sister and brother as they try to follow their Grandpa’s number one rule at the shore house—No sand in the house! But when Hurricane Sandy comes, they worry if Mother Nature knows that rule.

“I started this project in January with the goal of donating proceeds from the book to Hurricane Sandy relief. My own parents lost the entire first floor of their rental property at Long Beach Island, NJ, and many families have suffered much worse. I felt like this project was one small thing that I could do to contribute and to give children a sense of comfort as they head back to the Shore this summer,” explains Crawford.

Alliance for a Living Ocean, the High Point Volunteer Fire Company and Restore the Shore/Hometown Heroes will be the recipients of a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the book.

Proceeds from the sale of No Sand in the House! will be donated to organizations that are currently working to rebuild the Jersey Shore for this and future generations.
