National Night Out Turns 30National Night Out has been helping raise awareness of crime and encouraging anti-crime efforts and safer communities for the past 30 years. The annual event, geared to all ages, takes place on Tuesday, August 6. Here’s what’s happening locally:

Glen Ridge invites residents to come out to the Glen Ridge Community Pool (35 Clark Street) from 5-7 p.m. to meet representatives from police, fire and ambulance departments supporting the community. Giveaways, popcorn and free admission to the Glen Ridge pool!

Bloomfield encourages residents to celebrate National Night Out by having a block party with their neighbors and “give crime a going away party.” The Bloomfield Police Department will be visiting registered streets with giveaways from 7-10 p.m.
