The 18th Annual Spotlight Gala at NJPAC is New Jersey’s largest nonprofit fundraising event, and supports the Arts Center’s arts education initiatives and the organization as a whole. Presented by the Women’s Association of NJPAC, this year’s gala will be filled with a magical and wonderful theme—The Enchanted Oz.
Just as the classic film The Wizard of Oz begins in black and white, the Gala kicks off with a black and white themed “Masked Ball” cocktail reception. Guests will then be escorted inside to Prudential Hall for the evening’s Magical Voices performance and Spotlight Awards ceremony, followed by a sit-down dinner in rooms throughout the Arts Center. The evening will conclude with a ‘Wicked Dessert Extravaganza’, a signature “Ozler” Cocktail, and dancing to music from DJ, television personality and blogger DJ Kiss in the Prudential Hall lobby.
What does one wear to an Enchanted Wizard of Oz-themed Gala? WA Trustee and Gala 2013 Chairwoman, Mikki Taylor, who is also Editor-at-Large of Essence magazine, offered inspiration at last week’s preview of gowns runway show at Neiman Marcus in The Mall at Short Hills. For 30 years Taylor served as Essence Magazine’s Beauty & Cover Director, so she knows fashion. The fashion show was hosted by WA Trustee Bunny Johnson, GM of Neiman Marcus.
Women were treated to cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, Gala style makeovers and a fashion show with six models showcasing 24 inspiring looks for the gala—all ready to wear and ranging in price. Since the Gala is a “masked ball,” a gorgeous emerald and Swarovski Crystal mask was up for auction.
Ticket packages for the full gala, including premium seating for 10 people in Prudential Hall, are available at the following levels: Vice-Chair Table ($50,000), Platinum Table ($35,000), Gold Table ($25,000), and Silver Table ($15,000). Single tickets for the complete evening range from $1,000 to $5,000.
The money raised supports the Arts Center’s arts education initiatives. NJPAC supports Arts Education through Arts Training, In-School Residencies, Special Programs such as it’s partnership with The Johnny Mercer Foundation, School Time Performances and Family Workshops—introducing children of all ages to theater, music and dance, and more. Since its inception in 1994, the Women’s Association of NJPAC has raised over $40 million in support of general operations and Arts Education programs at NJPAC and serves as the Arts Center’s largest annual funding source.
