Incident: Criminal Mischief
Description: Officer Oliva was dispatched to Carteret Park on a report of criminal mischief. Upon arrival the recreation director reported that unknown suspect(s) damaged a camera at the field house. The incident is under investigation by the detective bureau.

Incident: Shoplifting/Warrant Arrest
Description: Officers were dispatched to the Bottle King for a shoplifting. Det. Daniel Manley had recognized two men in the store and had knowledge that one of the men committed a shoplifting two days earlier. Both men were identified, Baltazar Sergilus, 21, of Asbury Park, N.J. was arrested for the shoplifting and Taabef Smith, 22, of Asbury Park, N.J. was arrested for an outstanding warrant. Both men were transported to headquarters for processing and later released.

Incident: Burglary/Theft Arrest
Description: Officer Giuseppe Oliva was dispatched to Appleton Rd. to take a report of burglary and theft. The victim reported that they had heard noises during the night and discovered that construction tools were taken from the garage. The case was turned over to the detective bureau for investigation. Det. Daniel Manley and Det. Michael Medico were able to identify two men with the assistance of the Bloomfield Police Department that may have committed the burglary. Spencer Schwed, 36, of Jersey City N.J. and Richard Hogenbirk, 48 of Bayville, N.J. were arrested by detectives and transported to headquarters for processing. Both men were charged and released on bail.

Incident: Criminal Mischief
Description: Officers were dispatched to Adams Pl. and Chapman Pl. on a report of a small bush fire. Upon arrival Sgt. Timothy Faranda observed a bush that was on fire and immediately extinguished the fire. It appeared that unknown suspect(s) had started the fire as a prank. The matter was turned over to the detective bureau for investigation.

Incident: Theft
Description: Officer Bryan Hackett was dispatched to Rudd Ct. to take a report of theft. The victim reported that unknown suspect(s) removed Halloween decorations from their property sometime between 8:50 and 9:15 PM.
During this week the Glen Ridge Police Department investigated (3) motor vehicle accidents which resulted in no injuries.
