Hillside gallery blue CieloThe Gallery at Hillside Square in Montclair will soon be transformed by “Stirring Surfaces,” a solo exhibition of paintings by contemporary artist Florence Moonan, which runs from February 28th through May 22nd.

You can meet Moonan at a free, public reception on next Friday, February 28th, from 6-9pm.

The color and texture of the artist’s painted surfaces reveal a glimpse into her inner thoughts and emotions.  The major component in Moonan’s work is Venetian plaster, selected for its unique qualities that produce surfaces  she finds immediately appealing and as sensuous as a beautiful aria.hillside gallery orange“When I listen to the music of Puccini while I work, I am transported. If I can’t sing, it, I will paint it,” says Florence Moonan, whose passion for the arts springs from bits and pieces from her memories—places, family mementos, travel, and music.

Moonan, who lives in Stockton, New Jersey, has won numerous awards for her artwork, which is included in permanent collections in New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
