Arrest

On 08/30/2014, at 0201Hrs, Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on a 2001 Acura CL, in the area of Claremont Avenue and Park Street. The vehicle operator (19yoa from Newark) was found to have open warrants and was arrested on these warrants out of East Hanover totaling $850.

On 08/30/2014, at 1803Hrs, Officers observed a subject in the area of Mission Street who was known to have an open warrant out of this jurisdiction. A 21 year old Montclair man was arrested and held on this $766 warrant.

On 08/30/2014, at 2315Hrs, Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on a Land Rover, in the area of Bloomfield Avenue and Midland Avenue. The vehicle operator,  a 30-year-old man from Irvington was found to have open warrants and was arrested on these warrants out of East Orange ($1500) and West Orange ($1000).

Theft From Vehicle

On 08/26/2014, Officers were dispatched to a Claremont Avenue on a report of a theft from a motor vehicle. The victim stated that between 0845Hrs and 1230Hrs on 8/26, someone had entered her vehicle after smashing her front driver side window. The vehicle in question is a Jeep Grand Cherokee. On 08/27/2014, Officers were dispatched to High Street on a report of a vehicle that was entered. The victim stated that between 1900Hrs on 8/26 and 0745Hrs on 08/27, someone had entered his vehicle. The vehicle had been rummaged through, but it appears that nothing was taken in this incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.

On 08/30/2014, Officers were dispatched to Greenwood Avenue on a report of a vehicle that was entered. The victim stated that between 1630Hrs and 1745Hrs, someone had smashed the passenger side window and entered their vehicle. The vehicle is described as a Hyundai SantaFe. Burglary

On 08/26/2014, a Mission Street resident reported that they had been the victim of a burglary. They explained that between 8/22 at 1700Hrs and 8/26 at 1330Hrs, someone had broken into their apartment. Officers observed pry marks to the victim’s apartment door and a broken window in the exterior door to the apartment building. It is unknown if anything was taken in this incident. On 08/26/2014, at 2124Hrs, Officers were dispatched to Bellevue Avenue on a report of a burglary attempt. The victim stated that between 0900Hrs and 2123Hrs, someone had caused damage to her apartment door lock and doorknob. The actor(s) were not successful in gaining access to this apartment. On 08/27/2014, Officers were dispatched to Walnut Parkway on a report of a burglary attempt. The victim stated that she had heard a loud noise around midnight but did not see anyone outside the building. It appears that the actor(s) gained access to the common hallway, but did not enter any of the apartments. The front door appeared to have been kicked or forced in, causing it to splinter. Theft

On 08/27/2014, Officers were dispatched to a Cloverhill Place residence on a report of the theft of a generator. The victim stated that between 1930Hrs on 8/26 and 1900Hrs on 8/27, someone had stolen his portable generator from the rear yard of the property. The generator is described as a Husky 7500Watt unit, red in color, with a black fuel tank. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective J. Anderson at 973-509-4706.

On 08/28/2014, Officers were dispatched to Walnut Street Train Station on a report of a theft of a bicycle. The victim stated that between 0900Hrs and 1930Hrs, someone had stolen his bicycle, which was secured to the bike rack with a cable lock. On 08/29/2014, Officers were dispatched to Walnut Street Train Station on a report of a theft of a bicycle. The victim stated that between 1000Hrs on 8/28 and 1730Hrs on 8/29, someone had stolen their bicycle, which was secured to the bike rack with a lock. The bicycle is described as a women’s Trek GT, with a white basket on the front and a yellow and grey child seat on the rear. Miscellaneous

On 08/27/2014, Officers were dispatched to Mission Street on a report of damage to three vehicles. The three victims stated that they had all parked their vehicles on the street together at 0300Hrs. When they returned to their vehicles at 0650Hrs they observed that the vehicles has been vandalized. A Toyota coupe had both mirrors smashed off and a flat front tire. A Mercury sedan had a smashed mirror and two flat tires. A Hyundai sedan had two flat tires. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective T. Turner at 973-509-4724.

On 08/27/2014, a Pine Street resident reported that all four tires of their vehicle had been slashed. The victim stated that the vehicle was parked in the CVS parking lot at 49 Claremont Avenue between 0155Hrs and 0645Hrs. The vehicle is described as a Mitsubishi Lancer. On 08/27/2014, a Pine Street resident reported that two tires on their vehicle had been slashed. The victim stated that the vehicle was parked in the rear of their residence between 0200Hrs and 0945Hrs. The vehicle is described as a Chevy Malibu. On 08/27/2014, at 1014Hrs, three roofers working on the Unitarian Universalist Congregational Church, 67 Church Street, fell to the ground when their scaffolding collapsed. MFD was called to the scene to secure the remaining scaffolding while medical crews from Montclair, Verona, and Medics provided care to the patients below. These three workers were transported to University Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. OSHA was contacted and responded to conduct an investigation.
