Turkey Ride

The Montclair Bikery’s second annual ‘Turkey Ride” netted over 250 frozen turkeys to benefit The Human Needs Pantry of Montclair. The 20 mile route included a stop at the Brookdale ShopRite in Bloomfield where cyclists could purchase a 10 to 14 pound turkey and donate it to the Pantry. ShopRite generously discount the turkeys by 10% for all Turkey Riders. About 150 cyclists participated in the ride and many purchased two or more birds for the cause.

Cash donations were also collected and the money was matched by the Partners in Health charity.

“We saw a big turnout this year, three times the participation for our first annual ride”, said Montclair Bikery Sales Manager Tami Furman. “Last year the weather was brutally cold, but this year it was warm & sunny.”

  1. On behalf of the food pantry, thanks for the coverage! Correction: Partners for Health is not affiliated with ShopRite; it is the former Mountainside Hospital Foundation. ShopRite did generously discount the turkeys by 10% for all Turkey Riders. This was an extremely successful event, and we are grateful to all the sponsors, organizers, and riders.
