The week in Montclair Crime from D/Lt. David O’Dowd, Montclair Police Department:
Arrest
On 12-28-2014 at 1111Hrs, Officers conducted a motor vehicle stop on a white Mazda 4 at the intersection of Bloomfield Avenue and Midland Avenue. The vehicle operator, Mr. Frank DeRosa (48yoa from Newark) was found to have a no-bail warrant from Woodland Park. He was arrested and held on this warrant.
On 12-29-2014 at 1416Hrs, Officers responded to Upper Mountain Avenue on a report of a male stealing packages off a front porch. A subject matching the actors description was located riding a bicycle on North Mountain Avenue near Claremont Avenue. This suspect, Terrell Morris (48yoa from Boonton), was observed discarding a package as Officers approached. Mr. Morris was found in possession of packages stolen from two different homes in town. He was arrested and charged with theft and receiving stolen property.
Motor Vehicles
On 12-26-2014, Officers were dispatched to the 200 block of Grove Street on a report of three vehicles with slashed tires. The victims reported that on 12-25-2014 between 2200Hrs and 12-26-2014 at 0900Hrs, some one had sliced the sidewall of a single tire on each vehicle. The vehicles are a Honda Odyssey, a Toyota Corolla, and a Mercedes Benz. Anyone with information is asked to contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.
On 12-27-2014, a Perth Amboy man reported that his BMW 740 had been broken into on Hartley Street. The victim explained that at approximately 0030Hrs, someone had gained entry to his locked vehicle. On 12-28-2014, Officers responded to Maple Plaza parking Lot on a report of vandalism to a motor vehicle. On 12-27-2014 between 2150Hrs and 0320Hrs, someone had thrown a rock through the rear windshield of a Honda Fit. Anyone with information, please contact our Juvenile Aid Bureau at 973-509-4751.
On 12-24-2014, a Watchung Avenue resident reported that his Buick Enclave had been broken into. The victim explained that at between 1830Hrs and 2230Hrs on 12-23-2014, someone had gained entry to his vehicle. Stolen in this incident was a wallet containing $200 cash. On 12-25-2014, a California resident, visiting on Highland Avenue, reported that her Dodge Durango had been broken into. The victim explained that at between 1140Hrs and 1300Hrs on 12-25-2014, someone had gained entry to his vehicle. Stolen in this incident were a makeup kit and a wallet containing $2000 cash. Burglary
On 12-27-2014 an Upper Mountain resident reported that they were the victims of a burglary. The victim explained that between 1930Hrs and midnight, someone had entered their residence through a basement door. Stolen in this incident was a black 13” HP Envy Laptop Computer. On 12-27-2014 the owner of Urban Chicken, 43 Glenridge Avenue, reported that the business had been burglarized. The victim explained that between 2300Hrs on 12-26-2014 and 0900Hrs on 12-27-2014, unknown persons had entered the store by forcing open a rear door. On 12-24-2014, an Upper Mountain Avenue resident reported that he was the victim of a burglary to a detached garage. He stated that at approximately 1315Hrs, he had hidden a number of Christmas gifts inside his vehicle, a Jeep Grand Cherokee, which was parked inside the garage. Upon returning 20 minutes later, he observed that the gifts were gone. Also reported stolen was two suitcases full of clothes and personal belongings.
