Stearns Matthews

The Women’s Club of Glen Ridge Music Department will bring a bit of Broadway to Glen Ridge on Tusday, January 6, when Stearns Matthews, a Broadway performer and cabaret singer, will perform his special arrangements of time-tested standards and musical theater favorites.

Matthews is a three-time MAC (Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs) nominee in three categories for his solo cabaret shows: Best Musical Comedy Performer, Best Male Vocalist, and Best Male Debut. Favorite appearances include Albert Peterson in “Bye, Bye, Birdie!” Billy Crocker in “Anything Goes”, and Man 1 in “The World Goes ‘Round.” He has appeared multiple times in the Mabel Mercer Foundation’s Cabaret Convention, held at Jazz at Lincoln Center’s Rose Hall. His debut album, SPARK, was released in November 2014.

About his solo show “Sneak Peek!” a reviewer wrote, “This is cabaret of the highest order, absolutely harkening back to what the art form is supposed to be completely, and few can accomplish it quite as well as Stearns Matthews. It simply should not be missed.”
