Montclair Special Education Parent Advisory Council’s (SEPAC) next meeting will be held on February 5 from 7 – 9 pm at Nishuane School, 32 Cedar Ave, Montclair, NJ 07042
Guest Speakers, Mary Funari, of Funari Parent Coaching and Stacey P. Pinilis, LCSW, Psychotherapist and Parent Consultant will lead a discussion on communication between children and adults: “The 3-Minute Moment”
At this meeting, they hope to empower parents, teachers and paraprofessionals in taking the extra moment to ease conflict and frustration on the part of the child and the adult.
Mary W. Funari, a PCI Certified Parent Coach® and Approved Instructor of “The Art of Positive Parenting”, sees clients privately in her Montclair office and offers educational workshops at preschools and community organizations. She is a passionate advocate for parents of special needs children, and strives to empower all parents with positive, practical tools for creating a peaceful home environment where mutual respect and cooperation are shared values among family members.
Stacey P. Pinilis, LCSW, offers individual and group psychotherapy and parenting consulting. Stacey specializes in assisting parents with the challenges of raising kids. After working closely with the Nishuane School Safety Team designed to prevent bullying, she developed a program called Parenting With A Pause, a Conscious Parenting model which gives parents more ability to make changes in their families. Stacey also works as a Field Liaison for Rutgers University School of Social Work graduate students.
