A quest for meaning in their lives leads two outwardly unremarkable middle-aged women on a rousing tour of India, each one having her own secret dreams of what the fabled land of intoxicating opposites will do for the suffering she hides within in Terrance McNally’s A Perfect Ganesh. The play previews at Luna Stage tonight, Thursday, January 29. “Faced with the women’s despair, who but the golden elephant god could intervene? Fluid in his power to assume any guise, at peace with all things, Ganesha is the spiritual center around which the play spins itself, drawing upon the tragic and the comic, the beautiful and the deplorable, until a breathtaking release arrives for both women at his hands.”

Or head over to The Stone Depot in West Orange to see Miss Lucy & Walker Blue, a Chicago- and Delta- based Blues band from the NYC area. Formed from members of several prominent area blues and swing bands around Miss Lucy, the band captures the spirit of a mid-century, midwest blues band. Muddy, Wolf, and Albert Collins, all the way to ZZ, Clapton, and (if you’re nice) Screaming Jay Hawkins, it’s all part of Miss Lucy’s musical vernacular. Delta slide to Chicago harp, Miss Lucy & Walker Blue will have you swinging from the rafters while they tear the house down. An act truly NOT to be missed.
