Watchung Booksellers and the Montclair Public Library are holding their annual Kids’ Bookmark Design Contests:
Watchung Booksellers’ contest for kids ages 5 – 12 is inspired by Claudette—a spunky, fierce, giant-fighting little girl on a quest, and star of the acclaimed graphic novel Giants Beware! and the newly released Dragons Beware! by Montclair author Jorge Aguirre. The theme is a celebration of the epic hero inside all of us.
So, you are off on an epic quest! If you are Claudette, you take your toy sword, your best friend, your little brother and your trusty sidekick, your pup Valiant. What do you wear? Your armor? your cape? Your tutu? What do you take? Your toy sword? Your magic soccer ball? Who do you take? Your trusty goldfish? Your guardian kitty cat? Your stuffed teddy bear? Show us what your quest-ready self looks like.
Download the entry form here. Entries due by Sunday, May 17. Watchung Booksellers will have a celebration for all the winners on Saturday, May 30, with a special appearance by author Jorge Aguirre.
The Summer Reading Club at the Montclair Public Library begins at the end of June, which means it’s time for kids (grades K – 8th) to submit their own design for MPL’s annual Bookmark Contest! Entry forms are available at the Montclair Public Library’s Youth Services desk or at Bellevue Avenue Branch’s Kids Place. This year’s super theme is “Every Hero Has a Story!” Winners will receive prizes and have their entries made into bookmarks for Summer Reading Club distribution. Entry deadline is Friday, May 29. Winners will be announced by Friday, June 12.
