Friday night is Rent Party night in Maplewood! The monthly party was founded in 2009 in conjunction with the South Orange Elks, to benefit food pantries and fight hunger in SOMA. This weekend will feature Montclair’s own The Porchistas, Dollar Store Riot, and Heroes of Toolik.

The Third Annual Hat City Streets Festival Returns to the Valley Arts District in Orange & West Orange on Saturday, June 13. Go make a hat or wear your favorite hat, experience music that will get you grooving and dance that will get you moving — and enjoy great food, and family activities! The Festival is a day-long cavalcade of live music and dance performances, visual art exhibitions, and non-stop fun that celebrates the spirit and diversity of the region.

The Art Garage presents their monthly-featured Drink & Draw with artist Jerry Gant. Jerry is currently exhibiting an installation entitled De La Soul: The Inner Sound at The Art Garage. The opening was held May 15th during the Montclair Art Walk, which was a great success! Jerry will lead a drink & draw which will exemplify the very concept of his installation. This will be a truly unique event and a fun night!

Sharron Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts (SMAPA) will present the talented dancers of its Performance Workshop Ensemble and The Junior Performance Workshop Ensemble on a special performance this Sunday. This event marks SMAPA’s 20th year as a non-profit arts education organization serving Montclair and neighboring communities, and celebrates founder/ director, Sharron Miller’s 20th year at the helm of the institution. All proceeds from this concert will benefit Scholarship Funds which serve hundreds of children each year.

The 2015 North Jersey Pride Festival—a family-friendly event that brings together LGBTQ and Straight Ally individuals, couples and families from all over the state—happens in Maplewood on Sunday. The Festival features a live stage with superb national and local talent; a huge Rainbow Kids Zone with inflatables, face painting, arts & crafts, along with a brand new Interactive Kids Stage with the Lizard Guys, story time, relay races, gymnastics, martial arts demos, and more; 100+ exhibitors and merchant/artist vendors; and the famous Five-Star Food Court featuring the best of our local New Jersey eateries.
