
On Saturday, September 12, Montclair’s lawns will be the place to be. First, there is the MAM Lawn Party and then later in the evening the second annual Dance on the Lawn takes place at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church.
The free outdoor dance concert founded by Montclair resident Charmaine Warren, will include a diverse group of artists from New York, state-wide from New Jersey, and some of Montclair’s own.
New Jersey Schools include Sharron Miller’s Academy for the Performing Arts’ Performance Workshop Ensemble (SMAPA/PWE- Montclair), Kathy Costa’s DanceWorks & Company (Montclair), Nancy Turano’s New Jersey Dance Theatre Ensemble (Summit), and Andrea Kramer’s Ballet Forte (Chester).
New Jersey Companies include Donna Scro’s Freespace Dance (Montclair), Maurice Chestnut’s “Dance Therapy” (Newark), Randy James’ 10 Hairy Legs (Highland Park), and Francesca & Jacinta/Tribal Fusion Belly Dance (Montclair/New York).
And from New York— Janis Brenner & Dancers, choreography by Troy Powell (Ailey II – Artistic Director), Darrell Moultrie’s DanceGrandMoultrie, and BHdos: The Second Company of Ballet Hispanico.
Choreographer Robert Mark Burke will be presenting new work at this year’s event.
There will also be surprise performances. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets, the family and share in the fun!
