
Montclair teens took a strong stand against school dress code rules last May in a protest at school. Students took issue with the vague wording of the dress code policy in the student handbook, including the statement that clothing not be “distracting,” as well as the way the policy itself has been enforced.
Yesterday, Brian Lehrer encouraged parents to debate whether school dress code policies are sexist, and referenced Montclair as well as South Orange/Maplewood, where dress code issues also made headlines, to call in on the topic. Listen in here:
