In June 2015, the Township of Montclair settled a federal lawsuit regarding a lack of compliance with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) regulations, costing the township $107,047 for legal fees and $2,500 paid in damages to Birnbaum and Dial, a nonprofit organization that services individuals with severe disabilities. Part of the settlement was to take corrective action on a number of stipulations, such as adding handicap parking spaces, widening crosswalks at certain intersections, and to employ a qualified ADA coordinator.
More a year later, several actions have not been taken reports The Montclair Times.
