Officers of the Montclair Police Department will show their support of breast cancer awareness by donning Pink badges throughout October in recognition of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.
Dispatcher Heather Meece and Detective Kim Nelson-Edwards presented the idea to Chief Todd Conforti as a way to raise awareness and show support for survivors.
“We hope that through this initiative our department can contribute to the effort of bringing greater attention to a disease that has afflicted so many,” said Chief Conforti. “Three members of our department are themselves survivors.”
Detective Nelson-Edwards, Detective Lisa Gutauska and Juvenile Aid Bureau Secretary Tangelia Booker battled breast cancer.
Each year, the MPD forms a team to participate in a local Making Strides Against Breast Cancer walk. This year’s team – Team Montclair 5-0 – asks for your support in raising funds to help save more lives from breast cancer.
