- Ales N’ Tails Oktoberfest takes over at Turtle Back Zoo.

- Violent Femmes perform at The Wellmont Theater
- Historical Society of Bloomfield holds a “Museum Attic Treasures Sale”
- Montclair Pop Up hosts a Giant Community Tag Sale
- 4th Wall’s “Off The Wall Series” concert version presents Guys and Dolls in Concert.
- NJPAC’s Spotlight Gala 2016 will feature Tony Award winners Leslie Odom, Jr. (Hamilton) and Cynthia Erivo (The Color Purple) and GRAMMY® Award-nominated singer Kenny Lattimore!
- Morristown Festival of Books features a full roster of authors in Morristown all day. Authors will speak and answer questions for one hour at one of several convenient Morristown locations.
October 2
- The Open Streets Montclair festival will begin with the Tour de Montclair bike ride throughout the town and end at the Open Streets Festival on Glenridge Avenue with music, food, community partners and parklets for the community to enjoy. The construction of the parklets – mini urban recreational and lounge spaces will take place from 10 -12. Then it’s party time!
- The Jewish Cultural Society’s Rosh Hashana celebration at Unitarian Universalist Congregation of Montclair to welcome in the Jewish New Year
October 4
- Lincoln Center Local: Mozart Celebration at Montcalir Public Library
October 5
- Montclair Public Library hosts The Every Wednesday Matinee, a classic film series presented in its auditorium, with this month’s theme being “Wicked Women.” Today is Rebecca, starring Laurence Olivier, Joan Fontaine and George Sanders, a self-conscious bride is tormented by the memory of her husband’s dead first wife. - RISE of the Jack O’Lanterns, a spectacular display of 5,000 carved pumpkins, makes its New Jersey debut in Secaucas. RISE will bring out the Halloween spirit in visitors of all ages, indoors at the Meadowlands Exposition Center from October 27 – 30.
