If the stress of the 2016 presidential election has you eating away your feelings, don’t worry, you’re not alone. In solidarity with my fellow stress eaters, here are a few ways to indulge on Election Day, after you vote of course:
Cupcakes by Carousel (25 Church Street, Montclair) will be selling these tasty Election Day cupcakes from Saturday, November 5 through Tuesday, November 8, to show your support for your candidate and eat away our stress as you watch the results come in. Orders should be placed in advance to insure you get your cupcakes as there will be a limited supply. Call 973.707.2589
The Little Daisy Bake Shop (622 Valley Road, Montclair) will give out free coffee to those who show their “I Voted” sticker on Tuesday, November 8! Plus, there will be Election Day cookies and other treats to purchase.
Montclair Bread Company (113 Walnut Street, Montclair) will be selling Election Cake, a popular recipe from Colonial Times, in the shape of a doughnut. Montclair Bread Co. is participating in the“Make America Cake Again!” campaign, a collaboration and celebration among bakeries, food professionals, home bakers, scholars, and educators across the country. It is a non-partisan nation-wide project to raise awareness about our culinary heritage and the place of food in political and social life as well as to generate funds for voting access and rights. A percentage of proceeds from the sales of Election Cake will be donated to the League of Women Voters, a non-partisan non-profit organization that works on voting access, education and policy.
