Montclair Make Music Day returns, joining the Make Music Day Alliance celebration with a town wide celebration of music on Wednesday, June 21, 2017. Make Music Day is a one-day event where free, live musical performances, opportunities to make music and other musical events take place around the world on the longest day of the year. Musical festivities in Montclair are part of a global celebration of music making in over 750 cities inspired by France’s Fête de la Musique.
Montclair Make Music Day invites everyone from professional musicians to people who have never picked up an instrument to join in the global music celebration by attending performances at venues all around Montclair. All events are posted at the Montclair Make Music Day Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/makemusicmontclair/ and on the website schedule http://www.montclairmakesmusic.org/make-music-day-schedule.html
Make Music Day is a “DIY” (do it yourself) and “DIT ” (do it together) event. The coordinator is Montclair resident, Greg Pason who serves as the convener of the Montclair Make Music Day Collective. The Collective is made up of volunteers, musicians, non-profits, small business owners and students, with one purpose- to bring free music to town and promote “Make Music Day”. All local residents are invited to join the collective meetings and take part in organizing a great day of music.
