The Montclair man accused of animal cruelty in a July 12 road rage incident is due back in court later this month.
Marc Dionne had a court appearance before Judge John Gizzo in Essex County Superior Court in Newark on Friday.
Dionne’s appearance was brief, and included the setting of a Sept. 29 follow-up court date.
Dionne was one of two drivers involved in an altercation at the intersection of Bloomfield and Gates avenues, the other driver being Saddle Brook resident Gary Keay. A video that another motorist took of the incident quickly went viral on the internet, and led to the subsequent investigation by police and animal control officers.
It was during the incident that Dionne reached into Keay’s van, took out Keay’s dog and threw it onto the sidewalk, according to the video.
The dog was not seriously injured, and was seen running back to the van.
Dionne pleaded not guilty in a first court appearance on Aug. 1.
