A permit posted on a door of the Bellevue Theatre describes a planned “interior [demolition] in preparation for architect’s plans.” DEBORAH ANN TRIPOLDI/STAFF
The township has issued an interior-demolition permit for the Bellevue Theatre.

The construction permit, dated Nov. 14, was seen posted on a door of the movie house on Wednesday. It authorizes an “interior demolition in preparation for architect’s plans.”

The permit is to remove all interior fixtures, furniture and equipment, Township Planner Janice Talley said in an email.

“It’s unfortunate, but it’s their decision,” Angelo Cifelli, the attorney for the theater’s owner, said on Wednesday. He and his client had been hopeful that Bow Tie would reconsider their decision to remove the equipment and fixtures.

The theater officially closed to the public on Nov. 12. The current tenant, Bow Tie Cinemas, is reported to be preparing to remove the theater’s projection equipment, seating and fixtures.
