The weather service is now predicting up to 16 inches of snow for the area with winds up to 40 mph tonight, March 7.
Montclair School officials closed schools for today March 7, in anticipation of the Nor’ Easter. Schools tours scheduled for tonight have been canceled.
The zoning board meeting scheduled for tonight, March 7, has been canceled. No court hearings will be held today.
The Montclair Office of Emergency Management has declared a state of emergency. All non-essential travel and on-street parking is prohibited throughout the township from midnight until the emergency is lifted.
Residents can park vehicles in all municipal lots and decks free of charge. Once the state of emergency is lifted, residents will have 12 hours to remove their vehicles. Cars left on the street are subject to a $100 ticket for a first offense.
Residents have 24 hours to shovel sidewalks after the snowfall stops.
Recycling and bulk waste collections have been suspended for Wednesday, March 7.
The heaviest snow is expected to fall Wednesday afternoon with a rate of 1 to 2 inches per an hour. Visibility will be poor. Power outages, due to heavy snow weighing down trees and
